Skybase is a company knowledge base that connects Slack, docs, tickets, and more into one source of truth. Every answer shows its source, and nothing updates without your review. This post covers why we built it, what the first version does, and how to get early access.
What a single source of truth means
A single source of truth is the one place your team agrees is current and correct. Most companies believe they have one. In practice they have five: a wiki that stopped being updated, a Notion workspace, a few pinned Slack messages, a ticket tool, and whatever one person remembers. Each is partly right, and nobody can say which part.
Your company already knows the answer to most of the questions it asks. The answer is just buried.
Why we built Skybase
Three problems show up on almost every small team:
- The answer is everywhere, not in one place. It sits in Slack threads, old docs, closed tickets, and someone's inbox.
- By the time you find it, it's stale. Docs go out of date the moment they're written, and no one owns keeping them current, so nobody fully trusts them.
- So you ask a person instead. That's faster than searching, but it doesn't scale, and the same question gets answered from scratch every time.
Wikis store things. Search finds things. Neither one writes anything down. That gap is why we didn't build another enterprise search tool, and you can read the full reasoning in Why We Didn't Build Another Glean. Skybase starts one step earlier. It reads the raw activity your team already produces and builds the pages from it.
What the first version does
- One knowledge base fed by Slack, Notion, Linear, GitHub, and more, with no migration
- An agent that answers questions with the source and freshness shown on every claim
- A review queue where you approve or reject every change in one click
- Conflicts that stay visible, so contradictions are flagged and never silently overwritten
- MCP access, so Cursor, Claude Code, and other agents use the same knowledge as your team
If you want the mechanics, How a company brain works in Skybase walks through the full loop from ingestion to answer. We've also built free tools that work on their own, like the meeting notes to doc converter and the process documentation template.
Who it's for
Skybase is built for small teams, agencies, and early startups that have no knowledge manager and no IT team to run a rollout. If you're a few people doing three jobs each, and the honest answer to "who keeps the docs current" is nobody, this is the gap it targets.
If you're comparing options, we've written honest side-by-sides. Skybase vs Glean covers enterprise search, Skybase vs Notion AI covers writing assistants, and Skybase vs Guru covers verification workflows.
Pricing and early access
Skybase runs on one flat plan per workspace. There is no per-seat penalty for adding your team and no feature gate behind a sales call. Founding members lock in their pricing early, so a small team never pays an enterprise price for an enterprise problem. The Cheapest AI Knowledge Base Tools for Small Teams in 2026 explains why we think pricing should work this way.
